(1917-1996) Rowena Caldwell Elkin was a Dallas sculptor known for her large creations made of wood, bronze, copper, heavy rope, and paint. Elkin received a B.S. degree in visual arts from Texas State College for Women in 1938 before going on to design stage sets for in Houston. She lived in New York, New Mexico, and Midland before moving to Dallas in 1963. Several of her sculptures are on display at the Dallas Museum of Art, El Paso Museum of Art and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
