A Reputation for Excellence: The Fishersville/Shenandoah Antiques Expo

Not surprisingly, the 60th Anniversary edition of the Fishersville/Shenandoah Antique Expo in May was amongst the best shows ever – for both dealers and customers alike. The weather was almost perfect with but one of those pesky mid-Atlantic spring thundershowers threatening Friday afternoon, then graciously passing by Fishersville.

The Friday and Saturday crowds were strong and constant and while not record breaking, were amongst the very best in several recent years. Sunday was a particularly strong day for furniture sales. Many customers stopped by the front desk or sought out the promoters to express how pleased they were with the variety and quality of merchandise available. Equally satisfied were the hundreds of dealers who came to the show. Many exhibitors had their best show in years and several outside dealers reported sales in excess of $10,000 – making their over-the-road trip more than worth their while. Based on the volume of positive comments from customers and dealers alike, and the scores of people carrying their treasurers to the parking lot, Heritage Promotions’ reputation for putting on a great show was unquestionably validated once again!

With the 60th Anniversary Shenandoah Antiques Expo in the books, Heritage Promotions is building on its success; recruiting commitments from dealers who were at the spring show as well as reaching back for other top quality dealers that have done past shows. Many of these exhibitors provide more traditional merchandise; everything from 18th and 19th century English and American antiques, country Americana pieces, jewelry, glassware and many other quality antiques as well as an expansive range of intriguing, interesting and often hard-to-find collectibles. But, true to form, Heritage Promotions is always on the lookout for not just new vendors of traditional quality merchandise but those that will bring new ideas, interesting niche products and/or catering to new interests. Want to find out for yourself? Then don’t miss the fall show which is just around the corner.

The 61st Fishersville/Shenandoah Antiques Expo will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct 13-15, at the Augusta Expo (I-64, Exit 91) in Fishersville, Va. The Expo is very easy to locate and is a short drive from Waynesboro, Staunton, Charlottesville and Lynchburg, and more than worth a day trip (why not make it a weekend trip?) from Washington D.C., Charlotte and other even more distant locals.

The extravaganza attracts antiques aficionados from all along the eastern seaboard and mid-Atlantic regions. First time attendees often ask themselves, “How did I not find this show sooner?” Locals and seasoned vendors and collectors recognize the show as one of the premier fall (and spring) events in the Shenandoah Valley and treasure hunters line up early Friday morning to grab the opportunity for the first day, first look at the show’s offerings. Many dealers consider the Expo a “don’t miss event” and return twice each year traveling from Maine, Florida and all points in between. For a three-day $10 pass with free parking, you can search for an investment piece, one that jumps out at you and seems to call your name or something that just matches your decor! Come join the thousands who flock to Fishersville for these shows to find that perfect piece or just a fun treasure.
