Antiques experts and aficionados are in the Big Easy this week and weekend for the New Orleans Antiques Forum. The forum is sponsored by the Historic New Orleans Collection– a museum, research center, and publisher dedicated to the study and preservation of the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South region. The four-day event recognizes the bicentennials of Louisiana statehood and the War of 1812 and explores the prevailing styles of the period. Experts addressing the conference include curators from The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Hermitage: The Home of Andrew Jackson and appraisers from the popular PBS program Antiques Roadshow. Most of the events appear to have sold out with only Saturday and Sunday sessions available. Registration information is available here.
