While in downtown Philadelphia briefly this past weekend I noticed a large building, now condos, and wondered what it used to be. Turns out the words above the door spell out the Insurance Company of North America. What a great place to hang one of the portraits of former company executives that sold at Pook & Pook November 19. Looking through the results today, I noticed at least two of the lots ended at more than $10,000, including one by Edmund Charles Tarbell. A portrait attributed to Robert Field also brought $10,000. Unfortunately the lot by Pittsburgh painter James Reid Lambdin, father of floral painter George Cochran Lambdin, brought only $125.00.
