p dir=”ltr”>The Fort Worth Circle has been called Texas’ first colony of artists to practice an advanced aesthetic. The artists shared an expression that ran counter to the more conservative regionalism prevalent in the 1940s.
The nucleus of the circle includes Lia Cuilty, Veronica Helfensteller, Blanche McVeigh, Marjorie Johnson and Bror Utter. The artists met while in their mid-20s who met as art students at the Fort Worth School of Fine Arts.
Other artists came to be included, including Dickson Reeder, Sara Shannon and William P. (Bill) Bomar Jr. Kelly Fearing, Cynthia Brants and George Grammer.
