(1919-2000) Houston modernist Dorothy Hood was mentored in Mexico by Juan Orozco. She studied at Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Students League of New York. She lived in Houston with her husband, Bolivian composer, Velasco Maidana. Her work is represented in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and many others. Hood was the subject of the 1985 documentary Dorothy Hood: the Color of Life.
