Frederick Henry Brigden

(1871–1956) Born in England, landscape painter Frederick Henry Brigden emigrated to Canada with his family at a young age.  Brigden studied painting at the Toronto Students League under G.A. Reid. The son of a printer, Brigden helped found the Toronto Engraving Company and subsequently the Saturday Club, a group for artists and engravers working at his company. Primarily a Toronto resident, Brigden traveled occasionally to Winnipeg and died while on a sketching trip in Bolton, Ontario. His works are held in the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario and elsewhere.
