(1898-1984) Carlos Orozco Romero was a Mexican painter taught by Luis de la Torre and José Sabogal. Born in Guadalajara but attracted by the muralism movement in Mexico City, Romero relocated, traveled to Madrid on a scholarship and later returned to Guadalajara. He was commissioned to paint several murals, but only one survives. Also known for his work as a cartoonist, Romero began exhibiting his artwork in the 1920s with his first individual exhibition occurring in 1928. He also exhibited at The Art Center in New York, the Delphic Studios in New York, The Art Institute of Chicago and elsewhere.
