Martin Wong Work Triples Auction Record

Yesterday at Doyle Auctions in New York, a work by artist Martin Wong nearly tripled previous auction records. The work titled Liberty Mourning the Death of Her Sister – Beijing brought $137,000. The estimate suggested something in the $20,000 to $40,000 range. Wong’s prior record of $47,500 set in February 2013.

Wong’s collection of graffiti was recently shown at the Museum of the City of New York.
