If you’ve been watching ABC’s GCB, you know it’s set in Highland Park, a wealthy enclave surrounded by Dallas. The exterior shots you see on the show are of Dallas, but the show is filmed in California. So what’s it like inside a home in the real neighborhood depicted on GBC? The closest you may ever get is an upcoming auction by J. Garrett Auctioneers.
Owner of Le Papillon in Highland Park Village, Bertha Ahlschlager began collecting at the age of 10 and traveled to Asia and France to find the best pieces. Her home on Armstrong Parkway has been named one of Dallas’ 50 finest homes and has been featured in Texas Home Magazine and Architectural Digest and has been used for photo shoots for Neiman Marcus and Calvin Klein.
Items to be offered later this month include French & Continental antiques, bronze statuary, accessories by Tiffany, more than 100 pieces of fine jewelry including a 10-carat diamond wedding ring, sterling silver, designer bags, porcelain and more.
Ahlschlager passed away in 2010. According to her obituary, her inspiration came from Marie Antoinette’s private apartments at Versailles.
The auction will take place on April 21 and 22.
