A free guide tour will be offered in conjunction with some silent auctions along Madison Ave’s numerous galleries tomorrow from 11AM – 6PM.  The tour will start at the Fuller Building (57th and Madison) and walk upward. Another direction is to start from Arader Gallery at 78th Street and walk toward the bottom of the park. One gallery is out of the scope of the original, but no one would want to miss the chance of visiting Adelson Galleries on 82nd street.

I only wish there could be an introduction when the tour started at 57th Street where several studio buildings were built for the artists, or requested by the artists in the three decades of the turn of the century. A lot of them feature cast iron ornaments with huge windows which bring light into rooms.  57th Street was the center of artistic activities back then with its close proximity to the Art Students League. Even Childe Hassam once lived in the Rembrandt building at 152 West 57th Street.
